"Not a Film for Item Dances"

Sharma, familiar to audiences from films such as 'Lagaan' and 'Gangaajal', compared 'Dhood' to literature and the experience of reading a book. He described it as a film that gives viewers the feeling of reading an entire book in two hours.

He added that if audiences are going to the theatre only for item dances or to hear abusive language, this film is not meant for them.

The actor also said he believes 'Dhood' could prove to be a film that brings change to the history of Rajasthani cinema. He credited the whole team for the effort, saying every actor worked hard on their character and that the story, performances and technical departments were all handled seriously.

Director Stresses Authenticity

Chouhan said 'Dhood' is very close to his heart because its story comes from the soil of Rajasthan. He said the team tried to make the film's world feel true to its time, place and culture, while keeping its drama, conflict and emotions relatable for every viewer.

Why This Release Matters

In recent years, regional films have shown that rooted stories can cross language barriers. The Gujarati film 'Hellaro', which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film, is a prominent example. Its composer, Mehul Surti, has created the music and songs for 'Dhood', with an effort to tie the score to the story and the atmosphere of Rajasthan.

For the industry, the stakes are high. If 'Dhood' holds up at the box office, it could open the door to national distribution for other Rajasthani producers. The challenge will be drawing audiences to theatres for a film that relies on content alone.

Cast and Crew

The film stars Yashpal Sharma, Alka Amin, Bhawani Singh Chouhan, Vivek Pareek, Praveen Choudhary and Vanikki Tyagi. It is produced by Samar Jain, Narendra Krishniya, Mukesh Pareek, DS Chouhan and Abhishek Chopra. 'Dhood' is presented by Kalam Academy and Samar Jain, and is a Soul of Desert Production film made in association with Studio Ainak.

What Comes Next

The trailer has set out the film's intent. On October 23, audiences will decide whether this formula-free thriller can give Rajasthani cinema a new identity.
